NICK PATELLA

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Nick Patella, also known as Nico, is an aspiring filmmaker who carries his passion for telling stories with him wherever he goes. Currently attending Emerson College, he is studying Visual Media Arts. Alongside film related classes, he also joined a number of student films to connect with more of his peers and build on his experiences in the creative field. His latest venture was a film that blended live action elements with stop motion animation. Due to his extensive background in that tedious artform, he worked as one of the head animators for the project, closely collaborating with the director to bring his vision to life. While his high school curriculum didn’t focus on filmmaking, he was able to bring forth the art of film into the student body by collaborating with the drama program during his senior year. Instead of putting on their usual school play, the head of the program sanctioned him to write, direct and edit the school’s first ever student-run short film. He has been able to develop his filmmaking skills through two summer stints at the School of Creative and Performing Arts (SOCAPA) in NYC, where he was given the resources to write and direct a total of 4 short films. More recently, his interest in writing and directing has led him to become interested in the prospect of making music, specifically in the vein of film scoring. Driven by his love for film, he continues to expand his craft and find new ways to enhance his creativity.
